ABOUT THE ART
Chitrakathi are members of Thakar tribe from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. They moved from village to village carrying their 'pothis', a set of paintings narrating stories of epics. The storytelling was accompanied by musical instruments and vocals.

The artists were patronized by Shivaji the great, who appointed them as spies to know of the wellbeing of public and feedback on administration.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This is an intensive workshop to offer understanding from the basics covering study of important elements, figures, composition techniques and more. We will sketch and paint an artwork as shown in the promo.

It is a very unique and interesting scene depicting Seetaji arriving in Ayodhya with musicians and soldiers (who interestingly are holding rifles instead of swords. The painting was done during British era, and hence it reflects the change)

ARTIST
Sh.Eknath and Chetan Gangavane are committed to carry forward the family legacy of Chitrakathi paintings which their father Padmasri Sh. Parshuram Gangavane has preserved with his sole efforts over last 3 decades.
