Deccani Paintings or Deccani Scroll/ Telangana scroll paintings is a tradition continuing since as back as 17th century. The artists were concentrated in the Warangal district, in the village of Cheriyal. It also gives them the name, that we know it today with, the Cheriyal Paintings.
However, the style of painting was a little different than what we see today, it was more elaborative, more decorative and more detailed. That is why it is called the Nakashi art and the artists as Nakash.
In this workshop, we try to relive this old style, the style of Deccani scroll paintings in its lost glory. Our teaching artist Sh. Pavan Nakash, will revive this detailed style for us, that was once practiced by his forefathers, whose paintings are preserved in various museums and documented across the world.
It gives him excitement to have this opportunity and that is our good fortune that we are able to bring this beautiful form of art to you all.
Join us for a 15 days intensive workshop where we create Lord Ganesha's temple structure surrounded with Ridhi Siddhi, Kamdhenu, Shivalinga and other elements.
