ABOUT THE ART
Cheriyal paintings are generally considered to be the pictorial presentation of scenes from Indian mythological epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Krishna Leela, and other mythological scripts.
Cheriyal paintings also primarily told stories of 7 castes of the village, the fisherman, washerman, tadi collectors, barbers, weavers and farmers. Each of the caste's origin story connected with mythology was depicted through scrolls. These stories were narrated by performers in particular villages to connect the audience with stories of their deities.
