The Bengal Pattachitra is art made by people called Patuas or Chitrakars in West Bengal. They also create Santhali Patas, which are long scrolls that show how the Santhal tribal people in Eastern India live their everyday lives. The origin story of the Santhals is also a prominent theme.

These pats are also unique for the reason that they display the weddings of birds and fishes, which is not seen in other forms of art.

In this 10 days workshop, we explore the basic themes and learn how to compose artworks based on popular themes. Multiple artworks can be created during the course.

We work with artist Sonal Chitrakar, from Noya village at West Medinipur, Bengal
